In Memoriam

d'verse

The dVerse challenge today is from Whimseygizmo, a Quadrille to include the word ‘bubble’.

quiet togetherness

golden memories
floating forever

suspended
in rainbow bubble-glow

inspiring

your graceful
one-mindedness

innocent
open-mouthed wonder
viewed from a place

shaded with hues
of mellow
orange/yellow
lighting your face

asking for nothing
but to survive

you simply were
the cutest little
goldfish alive!

About ShirleyB

I was born with the muse in me. Sometimes I wish it would go away but it won't, so, good, bad or ugly it will escape intermittently.

    Awwwwww. RIP, little gold love.
My son’s first little pet was a beta named Max. That little guy lived MUCH longer than he was supposed to. 😉

    I love these lines, especially:
    “your graceful
    one-mindedness

    innocent
    open-mouthed wonder”

We can learn so much from animals, really.
Thanks so much for joining our third Q44!

  2. Oh … a little goldfish.. love this.. so many good things to say about pets… and this is so sweet, and so fitting for a bubble.

    I adore this.

    Especially the mid-section:
    “innocent
    open-mouthed wonder
    viewed from a place
    shaded with hues
    of mellow
    orange/yellow”

    Also this:
    “asking for nothing
    but to survive”

Hi Misky. It was written tongue in cheek. I don’t really get so attached to fish!

That was a surprise ending for me too…but really sweet. Goldfish don’t seem to usually get much respect as far as pets go… 🙂

  12. Your poem is making me think about our Mathew (he was a Beta fish, but we still loved the raging beast). It is incredible, the memories that root from the wee hearts we bring home and add to our families.

“…quite tasty”? Glad to read this was for fun and you didn’t actually make a mini-feast of your golden hero. You kept us all reaching for tissues until the end. Well done.
