Almost
small and afraid, she stared out of the
orphanage window.

“some day, someone will love me.”

this she believed with all her heart
nurturing the tiny flame
that flickered blind hope

years passed by

the flame warmed and grew
firing her beauty
filling her with faith and passion
she sashayed into the world
watching it fall at her feet

they begged
clawed and clamoured
for her charms

she captured
and was imprisoned
conquered
and was enslaved
blossomed
and was neglected

the flame grew weak

small and afraid she stared out of the
penthouse window.

“some day, someone will love me.”
