VILLANELLE

A French verse form consisting of five three-line stanzas and a final quatrain, with the first and third lines of the first stanza repeating alternately in the following stanzas.
These two refrain lines form the final couplet in the quatrain.

Blogologue
I made a blog that no-one wants to see.
I may as well have stripped and posted nude.
I should have baked a chocolate cake for tea.

I twittered, face-booked, tumblr-ed, endlessly,
but still it languishes in quietude.
I made a blog that no-one wants to see.

I promised video with poetry;
no cliché, hackneyed rhyme or platitudes.
I should have baked a chocolate cake for tea.

My blog is but a trickle in the sea.
A space of literary solitude.
I made a blog that no-one wants to see.

I treasured all my followers, all three,
though one of them left comments rather rude.
I think I’ll bake a chocolate cake for tea.

Yet patience must endure, and finally,
I’ll maybe, with a prayer, not conclude
I made a blog that no-one wants to see.
I’ve never baked a chocolate cake for tea.

One response to “Blogologue”

  1. Blogging is such a fickly occupation these days. I like the idea of baking a chocolate cake for tea instead. .
